My Purpose

This morning i was listening to “The Glory of Your Name” by Watermark. It was very appropriate for that song in particular to enter my ears this morning. Of course my desire is to bring glory to the name of YHVH, but i also want to find out just how glorious His name is, how glorious He is.
For some time now i have had this purpose, this goal, in mind: to rediscover YHVH. i have realized that my vision of who He is has been far to small. i have settled for what i knew about YHVH and have decided to set myself on this journey of rediscovering Him. i am not sure when i began this journey, but lately it has taken me to a place where i see how YHVH has revealed Himself to His creation throughout the Bible. i have also discovered that He still has things to reveal about Himself, things to reveal to me, to all His creation. It is of the smallest thinking that i believed He has nothing more to show me about Himself.
I want to accomplish 3 things on this journey:
  1. to learn more about Him
  2. to fall more in love
  3. to encourage others to do the same

i carry with me a lot of baggage that i have picked up throughout my life; things picked up from every period during my 34 years. This baggage comes from my family (what an incredible blessing!), teachers i have had, preachers, friends, fellow students, workmates, associates, etc. However strong or weak their faith in God was, (if it was there at all), i picked up things that have influenced my understanding of life, of God. Some of these pieces of baggage have helped immensely. Some of this helpful baggage continues to help, some was useful in bringing me thus far, but has outlived its usefulness. i am thankful for all of it, but that which i have outgrown, needs to be placed by the side. There has been some baggage that has never done anything but burden me, weighed me down and prevented me from reaching wonderful heights, slowed my progress down and in some cases prevented any movement. This useless baggage needs to be eliminated. i need to simplify. My wonderful wife, my sunshine, has been a true blessing in my travels and a wonderful companion assisting me with my longtime desire to simplify what i have made complicated. i need to periodically stop, sort through all that i carry, simplify and streamline. i need to, from time to time, stop and reorient myself, or have myself reoriented to make sure my direction is sure. i welcome any of those who honestly desire to climb the mountain of the Lord and see the wonderful heights He intends for us to see and experience the communion He desires for us to have with Him and each other.
Blessings to all,

raymond, a child of the King

by the way, the picture below came from one of the best sites on the web, Heartlight Magazine. Check it out, it has great tools for the journey
