Today, for different reasons, my concerns (thankfully) have turned from my self to others; to people around the world who deal everyday with fears about the current state of the world. Many of us fear that we may attacked by some outside force, some government or collection of people that hate and seek to kill for some reason that just doesn't make sense. Some fear that elections will go in a way that may bring danger to their way of life, some fear elections in other countries that may affect the state of the world in negative ways. Some fear their own governments or groups within their borders who seek to eradicate them in a mass genocide. Some fear their own governments out of fears that their government may find out they worship the King Eternal. There are many who fear losing their job, fear not having anything on the table, not having a home, fear a parent, spouse, abusive boyfriend or girlfriend. Some fear that a loved one is making bad decisions and putting themselves in bad and potentially harmful situations. Some fear they may have a disease that will bring about death and will tear apart their family and loved ones as they all deal with it. Most fear the unknown, fear tomorrow.
The teacher in Ecclesiastes tells us that there is nothing new under the sun, everything that happens today and that will happen tomorrow has happened many more times before, and these things will continue to happen as long as we are here. That, in itself, does not bring much comfort. This, however, does: the same God who saw people through the most tragic times in history is the same God who will see us through. He is the King, He is Supreme, He is Loving, He is Compassionate, He is the Healer, He is the Comforter, and He makes all things new and all things good. The Creator God can create wonderful things out of the ruins of our lives. If tomorrow things come that tears our world apart, our God will find a way to make it beautiful. He is the Master Artist and He makes the tragic beautiful. May i always take comfort in His abilities and may i only, ever fear a world without Him. May i only ever fear Him, the most Awesome Power the world will ever know who saw fit to make me and refine me, so that i can be His forever. May it also be that when fear of tomorrow does come, after i have lost sight of that, that the first and last action i take comes on my face, crying out in desperation for God to instill within me the confidence in His Providence. And may i also remember to ask God to let me know what he requires from me in that situation and know that He will give me, through the Holy Spirit the desire and the ability to do what he requires of me.
